The method is a key to realize the many different functions that smartphones have and learn about the different ways to utilize them as a tool. By looking at all the objects that were once used individually and are integrated in today's smartphones it is easy to talk about different goals to use technology and get a sense of its development. The objects that might be new to young children spark their curiosity and connect adults by looking into their own past.
Set up a circle and place the objects in a big box or suitcase in the middle.
Let the group look at the objects or show them around.
Open the conversation: Do you know all these objects and their function? Do you know that they are all functions of a smartphone? Which of these functions do you use? When do we need them? Ask your parents/grandparents whether they remember using a fixed telephone or making photos with an old camera.
